The Mandel JCC's Leonard Krieger Cleveland Jewish FilmFest - A Rabbi’s Daughter and the Midwife

Documentary, Israel, 2009, 50 minutes
Hebrew with subtitles
Director: Ron Ofer, Yohai Hakak

Sunday, October 1010 am • Cedar Lee Theatre

An inspiring documentary about two trail-blazing women who have combined their desire to effect social change in the ultra-Orthodox community with brave resourcefulness. Adina Bar-Shalom established the first academic-focused college for ultra-Orthodox Jews in Israel. As a midwife, Rachel Chalkowski has delivered more than 30,000 babies. Against many odds, both have affected their community in admirable ways.
