The Mandel JCC's $15 million dollar renovation and expansion is well underway. Thanks to the generosity of the Mandel Family we are planning a state-of-the-art facility to house our first-class programs and services. Find out more.

Phase one of our construction began in late Spring 2009. We will remain open and operating throughout the renovation and expansion project.

Upper Level Improvements

  • Welcoming entry and reception area with informal gathering spaces
  • Beautifully updated meeting spaces 
  • Updated children's and family activity space 
  • New airy, open staircase will ease congestion 
  • WiFi in many areas throughout the building

Fitness Center will feature:

  • 7,000 square feet addition-- more than doubling in size
  • A dramatic two-story wall of windows that will bring in plenty of natural light 
  • Easy access to the expanded running track 
  • Dedicated space for women's-only hours 
  • Space for stretching and for additional state-of-the-art fitness equipment

Fitness & Recreation facilities

  • 4 spacious group exercise studios
  • 2 cold studios for aerobics and cycling 
  • 2 warm studios for Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates 
  • An expanded gymnasium with 4 courts. 
  • 2 refurbished racquetball courts 
  • Renovated indoor pool with new tiles, pool liner, gutters, decking, and lights. 
  • 2 large whirlpools on the pool deck

Fitness & Recreation - Outdoors

  • Refinished outdoor tennis and basketball courts
  • Renovated outdoor poolhouse and improved outdoor pool facilities

Locker Rooms

  • 5 new family and fully- (handicapped) accessible separate locker rooms with private changing areas and showers.
  • Completely renovated, beautiful new locker rooms with upgraded sauna and steam rooms in the men's and women's locker rooms. 
  • A deluxe private Club J adults-only lounge area with TV, comfortable furniture, tables, rentable lockers and towel service. 
  • Spa area for spa services including massages and manicures.

Going Green

  • Efficient plumbing fixtures with sensor controls.
  • Energy efficient mechanical systems. 
  • Energy efficient lighting. 
  • Recycle construction waste. 
  • New materials with recycled content. 
  • Improved indoor air quality with low emitting carpet, paint, and furniture. 
  • Use of locally manufactured materials. 
  • Improved ventilation.

Infrastructure/Environment

  • Replace existing roof.
  • Replace existing ceilings. 
  • Three new rooftop air handling units will be provided. 
  • Two new air handling units will be provided for the Gym. 
  • New and existing mechanical equipment will be balanced. 
  • Replace or renovate existing mechanical duct work and equipment. 
  • New Fitness Center exercise equipment shall be served by in-floor power and data. 
  • Upgraded exhaust & ventilation systems throughout the building

Safety/Security

  • Replace existing sprinkler system piping and sprinkler heads.
  • New addressable voice fire alarm system. 
  • New electrical service shall be provided to the building and upgrade existing electrical system. 
  • Existing voice/data/video shall be reworked. 
  • New digital video recording security system will be provided.
