Rabbi Alysa Mendelson Graf
The Sacred Calling - Four Decades of Women in the Rabbinate
Sun, Nov 5 • 7:30 pm • Suburban Temple Kol-Ami

Women have been rabbis for over forty years. No longer are women rabbis a unique phenomenon, rather they are part of the fabric of Jewish life. In this anthology, rabbis and scholars from across the Jewish world reflect back on the historic significance of women in the rabbinate and explore issues related to both the professional and personal lives of women rabbis. This collection examines the ways in which women in the rabbinate have impacted all aspects of Jewish life, including congregational culture, liturgical development, life cycle ritual, the Jewish healing movement, spirituality and theology.

Rabbi Mendelson Graf was ordained by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. She received her JD from Fordham University of Law and her BA from the University of Pennsylvania. She is currently the rabbi at Port Jewish Center in Port Washington, NY.
