Continuing her work documenting the stories of Jewish heroes, Kempner profiles Julius Rosenwald, an immigrant peddler’s son who rose to become the head of Sears Roebuck. Inspired by the Jewish value of tzedakah and writings of Booker T. Washington, Rosenwald built over 5,500 schools in the racially divided south and funded scholarships nurturing African-American talent. The film includes archival material, clips from beloved American films and interviews with Rosenwald school alumni.
