Thinking he has killed his friend Paul in a jealous rage, David Bergmann flees pre-revolutionary Russia for America. In New York he becomes a successful lawyer and woos smart, independent Rose, the boss’s daughter. Meanwhile, his wealthy parents sell their posh home in St. Petersburg and immigrate to New York. Unable to find their son, they fall into poverty. Long considered lost, the film print was discovered and restored by the National Center for Jewish Film.
