Book Festival Mitzvah Project

Give the gift of reading to children who may not have books of their own

Our Festival of Jewish Books and Authors is 13 years old! As part of our “Bar Mitzvah” year, we are creating a special mitzvah project with The Public Education Initiative (PEI) and the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. We are collecting new books for children grades K-12 throughout the Book Festival (November 4-18).

The Public Education Initiative (PEI) is a volunteer tutoring program coordinated by the Jewish Federation of Cleveland to help build reading skills and form positive relationships with students at eight schools within the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Your donated books will be distributed to children who may not be able to buy their own. Your donations will help encourage a love of reading.

For further information or to volunteer, please contact Jessica Bell Semel at 216-593-2874 or jsemel@jcfcleve.org

Special thanks to Donby Packaging for the donation of the Mitzvah project collection boxes.
